How to register for the RN Exam?

The registration requirements for the RN exam may vary in each country. Even different states within the United States have varying regulations. For example, one country may allow individuals with a bachelor’s degree in operating room nursing to participate and be accepted into the exam, while another country may not even permit newly graduated nurses to register. In some countries, in addition to having an accepted RN qualification, there may be a requirement of having two years of active work experience. The format of the RN Nursing Exam is as follows:

The exam is a computer-based test that lasts for six hours. Depending on the correct and incorrect answers provided by the candidates, they are required to answer between 75 to 265 questions. Although there is no time limit imposed for answering, participants should make the best use of the time they have by managing it effectively because the maximum duration for answering is six hours.
The exam consists of four sections, and candidates move on to the next section after answering the questions in each stage. Before beginning each section, 15 practice questions are provided, which are not scored.

The four sections of the exam are as follows:

1. Safety and Environmental Care
2. Health Promotion and Maintenance of the Patient
3. Psychosocial and Behavioral Section
4. Physiological Section

Like any other exam, this test has its own rules and regulations. Some of the rules include: prohibition of using the exam computer for non-exam-related matters, no talking to others, prohibition of using headphones and miscellaneous electronic devices, etc.

If a question or any problem arises for the participant during the exam session, they should simply raise their hand.
The announcement of the results for the RN Nursing Exam takes place one week after its administration and is presented as pass/fail without providing a numerical score. It is worth mentioning that similar exams are conducted for other nursing certifications as well.
